There are plenty of great artist that I love that have died. For example, Michael Jackson, Biggie, Whitney Houston, Luther Vandross, Teena Marie etc. That list and what songs I love from them can go on forever. But I'm going with Aaliyah on this one. I chose Aaliyah because unlike most of those other artist They lived a long life and created mad music. Street Thing is my favorite song from that album. Its a song about hood love but its so smooth and make you wanna slow dance. My favorite part is when shorty say "why don't you take it to the bridge and let him know how you really feel?" Then she proceeds to BODYYYY the rest of the song. I just love everything about this song after that moment. Btw I think this whole album is fire. I have it on vinyl. Anyway I always wonder what R&B music would sound like if Aaliyah was still alive? Would she still be relevant? Who would be her competition? I also choose Aaliyah because only her first album is on apple music. Which is dum annoying. I literally have to buy her cd's or go to my dads house and listen to them. I think she is one of the most influential in life because of all of these factors. The fact that all of that runs through my mind every time I hear an Aaliyah song proves that. It sucks what happened to her because she was very talented and was no where near the climax of her career. I still remember that rock the boat video. That shit was fire when I was kid. I get sad when thinking about this but then I remember that she left such beautiful music behind for us to remember her by.
