GoldLink: At What Cost Tour

So last Friday I went to a Gold Link concert. It was at the Brooklyn Steel. I think it’s new but I liked the venue. It wasn’t huge at all and looked like an abandon warehouse. I went with my friend the tickets was a birthday gift that I loved. The whole thing was fire. From the venue, to the openers, GoldLink himself, and lastly the vibe. It was a mix of old and young. There was this old lady in a wheel chair on line being escorted by slightly younger old lady LMAO.

Imma start by saying I love that the open acts played instruments. I think that’s a dying skill that I wish artist utilized more. It also made me wish that I kept going with playing certain instruments as a child. The first group was a duo. named April + Vista. April played the violin so beautifully. It was funny to see a hip hop concert calmed down by the strings of a violin. They said connect so I did as such

I didn’t listen yet but it’s on the list. I enjoyed their music. Her vocals was on point. She sounded better than some of y’all favorite artists which made me want to connect.

Fun fact about the next performer is that before I left to go to the concert I was actually on YouTube. I just played like their top 40 songs or something. Instead of turning YouTube off I paused it because I liked the song I was on and said ill just pick back up when I get back. That song was "Tadow" and if you went to the concert you know that Masego co creator of Tadow was there. I had no idea I was about to discover him at the show so when I put the two together I was mind blown.

I say all of that to say I liked his performance. He really put on a show. He would say "Y'all cool" it reminded me of Bernie Mac when he would say "I aint scared of you" on Def Jam. It seemed like a way to have control over the crowd. I fucked with it. I really liked when he started playing the Saxophone. I peeped it before hand but didnt think he could really play and play it well. I too intend on listening to more of his shit because I thoroughly enjoyed his performance.

Last but not least GoldLink. I love when artist new and old are comfortable on the stage. & he is very comfy. First of all do all DMV people sound like Katt Williams or is it just me? I could've sworn when he said Mutha Fucker somebody was playing "The Pimp Chronicles." LMAO but nah I recently started listening to GoldLink and it was nice to hear some of my favorite music live. It was so shocking to see a hip hop artist dancing too. I enjoyed it cause I love to dance but theres this stigma that hip hop artist don't dance.

So the show going. Its lit. Then he brings out Joey Badass. I was not expecting that at all. He came out and performed "Devastated." A song that I didn't know prior to that night. It got added to the library tho. That energy was already wild but it just sky rocketed when Joey came out. Then he ended the show by stating "Crew" went platinum and performed it while the mosh pit he conducted almost killed everybody.

Overall, I would def go back to another GoldLink concert, I had a great time and I recommend it. I loved the vibe mostly.
